Detail of the new building of the Federal Foreign Office, Berlin
The Federal Foreign Office is composed by two parts, an old one, based on the renovation of the former Reichbank building, built in 1930s which have gone through many years of history, and suffered considerable damage during WWII. It has been rebuilt.
A new one build between 1997 and 1999, according to plans of berlin architects Thomas Mόller and Ivan Reimann. The new building had to, on the one hand, be essentially congruous with the main faηade of the old building but, on the other hand, must also add to the reconstruction of the Werdersche Markt, the centrepiece of this part of town.
Workshop 1: global view of the building.
Workshop 2 : detail of the facade of the two buildings.
