Flower cultivation in a rural area of West Bengal. The place is more precisely in a village near a small town Panskura, around 80 km from Kolkata. Flowers are especially planted in the low lying areas, on the silted river beds, at the bends of rivers which are almost dried up except in the monsoon season. The flowers are taken herefrom everyday to the wholesale flower market in Kolkata.

This is a potentially good picture that is spoiled by the dull sky and the lack of sparkle in the field of flowers. If you have Photoshop, here is how I tried to improve it:



Used the magic wand tool to select the sky, and then made a new layer. Then used the "Auto levels" tool on the original to get it more snappy.



Using the new sky layer, used the created a new "Color balance" layer, and adjusted the blue slider till the grey became blue. The added a "Brightness/contrast layer" to brighten the sky up to make it less dark.
