Photographer's Note

Ladybower reservoir was one of three dams built in the Derwent area of Derbyshire, the other two Howden and Derwent were built between 1901 and 1916. The building of Ladybower started in 1935 and finished in 1943 and was opened by King George VI and still took a further two years to fill. At this time it was the largest reservoir in Britain.
