Photographer's Note
Kuh-e-Khajeh is one of the most valuable and historical relics, located in the territory of Sistan. This hillock is at an elevation of 900 m. and is located in the midst of the Hamoon Lake, just like an island . Unfortunately there was a drought for several years and as you see, there is no sign of water now.
Khajeh mountain is just the only major mountain in the Sistan plain . This black volcanic rock was an important site and it has had a number of different names including : Oshida mountain(sacred mountain), Rustam (Iranian mythical hero) mountain .
Traditionally Khajeh mountain has been honored by the followers of Islam , Zoroaster and Christianity ; each for different reasons: Christians believe that the 3 wise men of the East saw the bright star at the top of this mountain announcing Christ's birth .Zoroastrians believe that the last Saviour ( Soshiyant ) will appear from this place and finally during the Islamic era it was a place to build tombs and shrines (like the tomb of khajeh Mehdi ).
In this shot , you see one of the important relics of Khajeh mountain including the remnants of a fire-temple and a colossal palatial structure, with spectacular architectural finish and overlooking a vast court-yard. The fire-temple of this hill has a large gateway and a square hall with corridors around. This structure dates to the first century AD. The surrounding ruins are related to the Parthian and Sassanide periods.

Salam Atousa,
A beautiful view ( quite worrying though, as the lake is gone and villages and wildlife must suffer...) i like the POV from above giving two levels in the picture.
Nice contrast with the dark, almost blueish rocks in FG and the ocher of the ruins.
Interesting note and WS too.
Greetings

Hello Atousa:
I like very much the point of view offered by this desert landscape. The rocks in the foreground, but the subsequent extension, with its beautiful terracotta hues, determine an excellent image.
Forms and details are magnificent, and various colors, are fascinating. Thank you for sharing

Salam Atousa,
I really like the way you havent included the sky in this shot...it accentuates the barren land and the dry rocks of the mountain, like Klaudio I think that the impressive shot is very well complemented by the note you have written.
Thanks for sharing

hello atousa
very interesting place. it took me a moment to realize i was looking at ruins rather than natural rock formations. i think, from the two shots you're presenting here, compositionally i prefer the one in the workshop. nonetheless, the black rock against the yellow ruins makes for a very unusual sight here.

Impresionante las mesetas interiores de Irαn, esta foto resalta las diferentes texturas de las distintas geologνas que aparecen. El templo, la montaρa y la llanura o lago desecado, en una composiciσn perfecta.

Salam Atousa,
Another fascinating place, evocative of mythical times and histories. I believe this was the desert that finally defeated Alexander the Great, after having won all the battles with every army of almost every nation of the "known civilized world" of his time.
Deserts are fascinating for their overwhelming starkness, emptiness, but at the same time majesty, but all of that makes more amazing finding grandiose vestiges of ancient civilizations in such places. You achieved capturing all of that here.

Hi Atousa!
Guess it's the first time I'm seeing photos of this place. Seems incredible. I like this pov and your photo shows the wideness of this area very well. Have you taken any photos down in the ruins? Very good light, colours and dof.

Very very beautiful shots of this exotic place indeed Dear Atousa. Both of the shots are highly informative and light management is extremely well on the first shot where we manage to see the shadow side facade of the caves. Amazing place. I hope the water returns some time soon and we see the natural beauty of the place. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Atousa,
thanks for this picture, it seems to be a view into the origins of civilization. Rare to see so well preserved structures from these times, you can nearly see the persons walk around in the middle of these walls. Excellent and informative note, too.

Salam Atousa,
This is an amazing place! Utilizing the layers of rocks in the foreground adds wonderful depth to the composition. Also the contrast of the black volcanic rock works well with the warmer tones in the remnants of structures. It is a skillfully captured scene.
Warm wishes,

I like this POV from high up. I appreciate your climbing the not so easy slope to get this POV. We can see the fire temple & down below the vast flat plain in earthen hues. A fine picture from this place!

Hi Atousa
I like this POV as the black volcanic rock makes a strong FG and frames the ruins nicely. Great depth here as the plain stretches out in the BG.
