Photographer's Note

During the Elephant festival time in Kerala, extreme heat and humidity presses upon the land. Indians beat drums endlessly all day long into the night. Sacred pujas (offerings and blessings) are made for the Gods. Every temple has at least one lephant in it's parade. Dancers, brass bands, huge stilted figures, and floats go by. At the finale, fireworks and huge explosions finish the event at the originating temple.
