Life on the backwaters is pleasant. The rich tropical foliage cools the humid air, and the blinding sun does not reach everywhere. People travel by boat, silently gliding along, through canals of all sizes. Coconut plams often grow 50 feet tall, above the canopy of other trees. Rich in spices, tropical fruits and sea life, Kerala has been invaded by foreigners since time began, to steal the riches. (scanned years ago)
