Photographer's Note
During a kick boxing game in Cambodia, I decided to take a peek around the back. As soon as walking the door where the boxer come out, I ran into this guy waiting for his time in the ring. I raised my camera to "ask" if it is ok to take a pic and he nodded. Quickly I adjusted all the dials and snapped one frame without flash and one with. This is one without.

I like the idea. You have isolated the man nicely. But it is obviously a "grab shot", with his foot cut off, too much space at the top and the distracting man in the background. Even in a quick shot you can look ata the edges of your image to make sure it is framed properly, or crop it in post processing. I do like the side lighting, gives it a mysterious mood.

Mike,

Hey Mike, I like your framing just fine; there is not too much head room up top. I think the headroom gives it direction to where he is (like above the basement or on the second floor) And I love the old man in the shot. He brings life to the situation (a fighter and maybe a training) Yes the mysterious look is sweet ie: the exposure. I just wish the focus was more on him then the seat; but the slight unfocus adds to the whole mysterious thing. I like it, good work.

I like this one because it own a strange atmosphere where the fighter is alone with himself... great composition...

Hello Mike, and a warm welcome to TE! Pretty good portrait of this young Cambodian fighter. I like the fact that he's looking at you as well as the presence of the other fellow in the bokeh zone...
To be absolutely honest, I suspect this might have looked better in a strong B&W treatment. You might be interested in seeing this slide show from Magnum Photos all about Cambodian Kick boxers, in BW of course!:
