The 'Neue Synagoge' (New Synagogue) at Oranienburger Strasse in the centre of Berlin.
This building once was the centre of Jewish life in Berlin. Now it houses the Centrum Judaicum and a small museum showing the history of the synagogue.
It was built in the years 1859-1866 in moorish style.
In the so-called Kristallnacht it was set on fire like many other synagogues in Germany, but the fir was extinguished. Later during the war it became heavily damaged. The facade, and some rooms were retored in the years 1988-1993.
