Photographer's Note
This is another view of the dam on Henry Ford's Estate. Here are some more of those thin stones that were used throughout the grounds, seen in my photos from sculpting a hillside to the wall of the boathouse. In contrast to the last post this is from below the dam. It's not down those stairs in the previous shot, though. Those just lead right into the water. It's not a very tall structure. If I were to guess I would say it is about 5 meters in height at most. Also the water it held back is wider than the river but still very much like a river in width so it doesn't appear too unnatural. It was all about appearing natural and I think they succeeded.
In this shot, too, you can see some mortar, maybe, holding those stones on the side together. Though it's not evident everywhere. I guessed that maybe there was a concrete core these stones were set into, much like Opus Incertum or Opus Latericium (bricks inserted into a core). Or, perhaps, there was such great attention to detail that even the mortar was hidden. Or, thirdly, the mortar may have just eroded away. In any case, these walls are quite solid. The boathouse still stand inserted into a hill and these along the river have survived many floods. I know I felt no shakiness as I ran across these.
And just a quick mention. The image seems tilted but I measured the top of the fall several times and found it level. Is it just my eyes or is there a noticeable optical illusion?
In post-processing I ran increased the contrast to +4 before re-sizing and sharpening.

Interesing series around this estate. The title made me think there should be a new theme.

Deux choses que je remarque avant tout, le naturel des couleurs et l'impression de voir l'eau en mouvement tellement la photo est nette. J'aime beaucoup les teintes des pierres sur la droite.
Le cadrage est parfait, l'exposition aussi.

I like how the wall/rocks in the foreground seem yo 'mirror' the steps in the waterfall itself :)

Very nice composition with all those steps the water has to cover. I like the way the water is displayed - an optimal compromise between dsplaying some motion blur (dynamic) and detail. I love the way the thin stones are the basso continuo in your series - nice that we can see them in detail here - with explication! Fine job, Paul & thanks for sharing.

Nice and interesing addition to your Estate serie Paul. here I like how water falls along those steps. It's sharp but thought, we can feel it on the move. The stones wall on the right doesn't seem as solid as you say, but that's just my impression. May be because of the abscence of a visible core. I don't feel any tilt here Paul, I think it comes from the shot angle. Fall steps are in a slight perspective and lines of those steps tends to go to bottom of the picture. Anyway, well done again with very informative and interesting note. Thanks for sharing.

I like this better than the previous, Paul. The close look at the wall to the right, giving away the details in texture and also how the structure is built and kept together. The fall is captured in a nice angle and the exposure setting is just right for the falling water, not freezing it nor smoothing it. And the trunk is not occupying too much space in this shot - although I would like a slightly better view of the (wade) stones at the top of the fall. Very good capture.
About the tilt - I wouldn't have noticed it, if not mentioned - I think this is an illusion and a fault calculation! Somewhere in the image is the (invisible) horizon. That's level! In this case I believe it to be at the fifth joint in the stone wall. This means it's the corresponding step that should be level, not the top. To show what I mean, I've done a WS trying to adjust to this. See what you think!

The texture of the 'stones' on the right is excellent, Paul. You captured the water perfectly. Well framed.

A very pretty sight of the cascade with this full water d'ιcume. The stones laid out with the foreground on the right emphasize the very successful composition. Thank you Paul for this photograph and the note very well done. It's a true pleasure.
