Photographer's Note
This fountain gets its name from the Ottoman sultan who commissioned it. Built in 1728, it is in the style of the Tulip period. (Yes, Ottoman history has a period named after the tulip - my Dutch friends, eat your hearts out.) The wall to the right of the fountain is the outer wall of Topkapı Palace. In fact, the tourist entrance to the palace is just behind the fountain in this photo.
The keystoning effect is quite pronounced with the tall minaret of Hagia Sophia Basilica-turned-Mosque-turned-Museum-turned-Mosque. I attempted to correct for it with the manual lens correction, but it did not turn out just quite right. I am uploading that trial to the workshop.

Hi Murat
This very much brings back Istanbul memories for me. The subject matter is great as are the colour and detail but, of dear, the lens distortion. I had a go at correcting it too but came up with basically the same as your WS. From this and your previous posting the problem must be with you camera when you take tall wide photos (not that this is a very wide angle one) - it just doesn't seem to cope.
Nevertheless I still like the photo and its composition.
cheers

Hello Murat,
I don't know a bit about correcting distortions so I can't help you with this. You did a good job with the WS anyway, except for that mysterious balcony. But the main photo is still good as far as sharpness and colors are concerned, and the fountain remains a beautiful building.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Murat
Lol at the Tulip Period remark. I lived in Turkey for over a year so I know that tulips are native to Turkey. Perhaps Bev can do a workshop for you? She did an excellent job on my Dresden Cathedral upload which also featured a large building at the side leaning inwards due to lens barrel distortion in the wide angled lens. The important thing in a wide angled shot is to have the verticals placed centrally, which is what you have done here, like this: /|\ Tfs.

Heavily distorted, Murat.
I see people write the usual "beautiful", "good", "great", "fantastic" words - can't agree on that, the picture is far out from such a description.
Sorry, but even the WS with PP done, had even worsen the distortion mentioned.

Hello Murat,
We are very aware that tulips originally come from Turkey. :-) A great photo of the fountain surrounded by some high walls and the tall and elegant minaret. The details are nice and clear, also in this fine sunlight. Well captured and composed.

Hi Murat,It is always difficult to take pictures like these, the subject is very interesting, but the debate always opens on the subject of lens distortion in perspectives like these. Honestly I prefer the natural and distorted view, the correction I see in the WS distorts a lot the dimensions and characteristics of the minaret that seems to become a space shuttle. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Murat
A graceful architecture of the olde fountain with additional attractive features in the vicinity. Lovely the tall minaret hooks the eye as a strong eye pointer. Well done

Hi Murat,
this is so pretty!
I like the tulip style architecture. It seems so colorful as well!
The weather helped you to make the best of it.
You have well pointed out the changing fate of the Hagia Sophia. Sad story I believe.
In regard to the distortion: yes I have noticed that if there is anything tall like a tower near the edge of the frame -the perspective correction works funny.
I think the original photo works out better.
Excellent work,
M
