Valcaldara - Norcia (PG)
The toponym Valcaldara could refer to the small valley to the south-east of the town, between the Church of San Pietro and the Church of San Giovanni, where tradition has it that the first nucleus of the town developed, which was later abandoned; the etymology could have a relationship both with a favorable climatic condition of the area ("warm valley", to be contrasted with "freddara", area west of Norcia) and with the shape of the valley itself (convex like the bottom of a cauldron, " callara "). Cited for the first time in the 11th century, as belonging to the Lombard steward of Ponte, Valcaldara was part of a system of “pagi” developed in the Capo del Campo area in Roman times.

This is an amazing photo. The village is barely seen in the haze, but the light is fantastic. I love the contrasts between the warm tones of the bright foreground and the grey fog. Assisted by nature and weather you have composed this perfectly.

Ciao Silvio,
this was a challenging light for sure but the effect is very attractive. The fog is so dense there. It sees as if the cloud came down to this particular town only.
We can still see nice autumnal colors in the vegetation in the foreground, and a steep hill at the back.
Quite a mystical ambiance.

Ciao Caro Silvio,
This was taken quite a long time ago but it shows the sort of weather that many of us have been experiencing recently!
I like the mysterious atmosphere that the mist creates, settling almost like a grey blanket over the roofs of the houses!
It's a well composed photograph, giving a good sense of depth from the colourful trees in the f/g, to the fading buildings in the distance.

Hello Silvio,
From your chosen point of view you were able to look over the fog and see the mountain slope.
Despite the dense fog, a beautiful light shines on the houses of the village.
On the foreground we find lots of pretty autumn tones of the foliage.

A beautiful and curious composition, with that strip of fog that just affects the town, giving it that ghostly touch, the trees in the foreground are clear and the highest part of the mountainside as well, despite this we appreciate its charm.

Hello Silvio, a beautiful scene, it has to be autumn!
The sunlight somehow manages to penetrate the mist and highlight the buildings.
We have autumn colours in the foreground trees and on the background hills.
