Every year on the 27th of February the Dominican Republic is celebrating independance day and at the same time carnaval with colorful costumes and colorful people. It is a vibrant feast here in the main town of Samanα, Santa Barbara.

Gerrit, the children wear yellow fancy dresses to celebrate the carnaval. Processions are organized in Santa Barbara during that yearly event. All the characters are made up. Authentic slice of life captured in the street. Vivid colors, neat image.

great reportage from this colorful event!
I like how the ladies all wear similar yellow costumes -there is one on red which makes me think that there was another group of ladies before who were all wearing red costumes.

the shining yellow dresses in same style (one in red and one in white), gave grace to those beautiful young ladies on the parade.
