Photographer's Note
SEE WS TOO!
Georgia has the fifth highest hydroelectric power plant in the world, but apparently who visits this state has never been interested in this. In fact, these are the second pics of this immense dam on TE. Although it is in Georgian territory, it is still governed by the Russians who had built it before Georgian independence, and is still a valid reason for political blackmail as the power of this power station supplies much of Georgia. Moreover, the opposite shore is very close to Abkhazia, the Georgian region but occupied by the Soviet Army. You can find rich info about the dam on wikipedia.

Hello Luciano,
This is a set of three fine photos from this newly discovered (by tourists) country. The blue waters of the reservoir and the green mountains provide a refreshing scene.

Bonjour, cher Luciano,

Hello Luciano,
This is an interesting post. The view as such is quite attractive and not the most common kind of TE photo, but the note is more important than with the average picture on the site. The photo gains a lot from the information about the realities of politics and economy. Strictly photographically it is well composed and with many fine tones of green.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Luciano, it is an interesting picture, nice to see these masses of water held back by the tiny dam. You're not too lucky to have ongoing constuction with the crane in the picture :-). But we can get a sense of nature's forces and human efforts to fight them. Well seen and done. Greetings

Hello Luciano,
No doubt a point of contention between the two countries but there does not seem much Georgia can do about it. The point of view is well chosen to show us the massive size of the dam and set it in context. I like the beautifully rendered turquoise tones of the reservoir.

Hello Luciano,
The POV you found offered a great view of the large dam and the peaceful lake right behind it. It's an impressive piece of engineering and you captured it very well here. Great work!

Bonsoir Luciano,
Normally construction equipment and yellow cranes detract from an image but here you have made the crane work for you, by placing it against the blue cyan bg of the reservoir. Good sharpness and high pov. Tfs!

Hello Luciano,
a fascinating set of photographs from a lesser known location, the politics of the area are doubtless very complex, but your shots portray perfectly the magnificence of the area and the expertise needed to construct the dam.
Best wishes Les.

The photo itself is simply excellent

Oi, Luciano!
Ângulo interessante dessa barragem, a parte curva ficou bem interessante. A água tem cores e brilho realmente lindos. As montanhas fazem um bom fundo. A grua amarela do primeiro plano é um bom detalhe. Boa nitidez.
Parabéns!

Ciao Luciano,
Your photograph is excellent and it is augmented by an informative note. The colors of the water highlight the dark hills of the backdrop.
Incidentally, in the "optical illusion" embodied in my last post, the staircase is laid out horizontally, with each floor actually a room. The woman in the photo (my wife) simply walked into room 3-4.
Warm regards,
Bulent

si potrebbe definire la diga della discordia...
Purtroppo le occasioni di litigio si trovano sempre, figuriamoci se ci sono degli interessi di mezzo.
Hai comunque fatto un ottimo lavoro, impreziosendo la galleria TE.

Ciao Luciano,
I had to go near this dam on the way to Mestia, but I didn't realized it is so high - the fifth highest in the world. And it doesn't seem very large. The largest in the world is Three Gorges in China.
As I was going by marszrutka, I had no possibility to see it closely. Interesting note. Excellent composition and sharpness. Beautiful colour of the water.

Ciao Luciano,
The giant dam looks to be still under construction, as I see cranes and a yellow lift on the far side.
But, it created a lake within the green hills and has some environmental advantages.
A fine take with good allocation over the pic. space.
Buona serata,
Ike

Ciao Caro Luciano,
This is a magnificent dam, built in a politically fragile area!
You have used the dam wall as a fine separation line; a third composed of man-made features, two thirds looking like a natural environment. It contrasts the areas very effectively!
Were you allowed to tour the installation or os it very secretive?
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Ciao Luciano,
very impressive composition here!I like this point of view slightly from above which well captures the beauty of the place. We can feel the power of the dam seeing a huge lake supported by it.
I like the green color tones all over the picture. The yellow crane adds a nice touch here.
Great reportage!

Hi Luciano
i really like the WS #1, thats my favorite. we get to see so much of the damn itself, its got a strong industrial feel to it.
too bad there has to be such a political battle over it, but thats the world of today right?
interesting to hear its only on TE once or twice before, so this is a treat :) excellent trio of photos, all a little different. cheers

impressive the barrier of the dam, very high, and we can imagine how deep was the natural gorge. my state is full of dams and produce lots of electricity, including the largest electric plant of the world. at this moment we are trying to preserve our fourth largest river, saving it of dams, but there are more projects to do that.

Luciano, it is an old dam and a passage for the fish was not planned. Nature was not considered in the past. The reservoir turquoise water is attractive. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
