Photographer's Note
One of the advantages of visiting these popular American National Parks in the winter, is that its not so popular!
We went out on this hike to get to this viewpoint at the end, that was the goal. All along the journey we were the only people on the hiking trail - not one other living soul.
From what we have heard from others online, and from locals, in the summer and spring seasons its so busy in Zion National Park that you can't even find parking. Its so full with people that its even hard to find a space to pull your car over to the side of the road to take a picture.
So we were very thankful to visit in the winter, and it may look cold, but it's not that bad at all.
The best part is how the park looks after a snow fall, its more beautiful this way in my opinion.
If you look closely, you can see the winding road along the bottom of the canyon. Such amazing views here in Zion National Park.
Have a great weekend everyone!
PS
Depending on the monitor you view this photo on, I hope the white snow is not too bright or overexposed. On my laptop it looks perfect, yet while i'm at work i noticed it is overly bright. Ongoing issues with TE perhaps, I've had similar problems with exposure/lighting/color on TE posts.

Bonjour Craig,

Hello Craig,
The zig-zag road makes a second focal point and provides scale for the grandiose landscape. I like the contrast between the snow dusted ground and the rust coloured rock faces. Excellent rendering of the textural detail.

Hello Craig,
Who would even dare to overlook a picture with a title like that? It's good for you that this really is worth a good look, not least for the colours. The grayish green and brown tones are superb. The crowded conditions in summer sound quite horrible. Doesn't sound ideal for an experience of well preserved nature. Still, it must have been a disappointment not to meet any living soul at all, not even a bison or an elk.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Craig
What I don't understand is where the road goes when it reaches the cliffs at the top of the climb! Never mind: this is a sublime landscape, which really conveys the feel of the place. I'd maybe want to see some sky above the mountain on the left... But who am I to complain when you've hiked so far to capture your fine photograph?
Regards
Will
P.S.: when are you in the UK?

Hi Craig!
Wonderful winter picture of that fabulous place!!!!
When I was there, in spite of being early spring, it was pretty crowded, but not suffocating! I loved it and it one of my favorite spots in the Western USA!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, horizontal format, slim black borders, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,
Cheers,
Neyvan

Hello Craig, yes, we do not often see Zion National Park under a fall of snow. The snow seems to accentuate the terrain beautifully.
The snaking road is perfect in making an excellent composition.
Thanks for sharing, Jean.

Hello Craig,
What a dilemma ! Visiting the national park in winter while I don't like the cold or visiting it together with far too many visitors :)
Anyway, this is a stunning picture!
Amazing ! The red brown cliffs stand out well in the snowy landscape. Good that the winding road has been cleared of snow so that its colour makes it clearly visible on this splendid shot.
Best regards, Paul

Hi, buddy! Are you in Utah? You got a chance to meet Jason in Salt Lake City too. :) Superb shot! I take my hat off... Outstanding quality, I surpised with this contrast of the snow and the red rocks. Perhaps the Grand Canyon has the same winter cover, but I saw the winter scene only. Best wishes! I am going to England next week. Serghei

Hello Craig,
This is another great winter shot. I really like the way the road is winding like a giant snake. Are there still lots of rangers around during the winter? It would be bad to get stranded out there with nobody else around!

Ciao Craig
anche io preferisco vedere i luoghi quando ci sono pochi turisti, non si hanno noie e si hanno diverse visuali.
La strada che si muove come un serpente θ una forte attrattiva in questa panoramica.
Buona domenica

Hi Craig,
The length of the road is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of this area of the Zion National park. The loght is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig
This one is also very beautiful with wonderful colours of the rocks sprinkled with fresh snow. The winding road adds an eye-catching focal point and leads the viewer's eye through the image. I really envy you the opportunity to photograph those wintery landscapes. I was very unlucky with weather this year (I missed snowfalls in Armenia, UK, where I live, and Poland, where I visited twice!).
Thank you for your comments on my last upload from Myanmar. I don't only ever document sombre stories and take photos of sad people but it is true of some locations I have recently visited, like SE Turkey, Nepal or Burma. But if you look at my shots from e.g. Iraqi Kurdistan or Uzbekistan you will see quite some happy faces. :-)
Greetings from Doha airport (Qatar), my stopover on the way to Kathmandu. I can't answer your question abour exposure as I'm looking at the image on my netbook screen - it looks beautiful but does not allow any precise judgement.

Hello Craig,
The balance of the white and dark part of this lovely picture is alright at my monitors. Maybe a visit to this place in summer will be nice, but I think I prefer the silence and snowy beauty of the winter in your picture.
The zig zag road seems to disappear in the mountain.

Hello Craig
Long time no hear, but live is keeping me busy and with not getting any notification mails from TE anymore the site has simply slowly slipped from my mind.
The winter view here is indeed a sight to behold. Impressing in summer it looks even better with the snow and the low hanging clouds in the distant.
Like you, we like to visit places out of season to avoid the crowds. Weather may not always be to favorable during this time but the reward is even greater. So we are off to Iceland again in just 3 weeks from now. Hoping the weather will be not to bad, the roads passable we are looking forward to this adventure.
have a great weekend

Hi Craig,
Grand landscape again. Fun to see it in unusual white and red colour combination. Even the road made of local material has the same reddish brown tone.
I'm trying to figure out where the road goes on the upper end without conclusion. To me the snow looks just right.

Hello Craig,
I have to agree with you about how spectacular places look when covered in snow. I love to photograph at home after snowfalls, everything looks so clean, so different! However, I'm equally glad to get back into the warmth of the house, with a cup of steaming coffee.
Your photograph is so interesting because of its limited colour palette. The textured greys predominate, so the warmth of the red cliffs and the ribbon-like roadway stand out like a tattoo on an arm!
It is a well composed photograph, with a cloudy b/g that leaves no guesswork to the mood and the temperature!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Beautiful winter scene! My trip to Zion was in the spring which good for me, I'd hate to drive those narrow roads in the winter. Great pov and dof with nice details considering the condition. Well done, tfs.

Hello Craig,
The huge exposed rocky red cliff almost devoid of snowfall makes a good focal point then the eye follows the zig zag road. Good sharpness and what a view, eh? Tfs!
