Photographer's Note
"Pirate Weekend" in Plymouth!
I was so busy taking pictures of all the characters dressed as pirates, that I never noticed this pirate pointing his pistol towards me!
"The Pirates of St. Piran were planning to storm the Tall ship The Phoenix whilst it was berthed in Sutton Harbour." (Publicity material.)
A family weekend. There were lots of children entering into the spirit of the weekend, with stripy t-shirts, pirate hats and eye patches.
Thanks for viewing.

Hello Jean,
This is a fun picture! And so full of interesting detail too.
Your picture is so sharp that, when viewed at it's full size, I can see that the flintlock pistol, aimed right down the barrel of your lens, is, in fact, cocked and ready to fire!
The "pirate" wielding the flintlock is perfectly placed in the frame and surrounded by his fellow miscreants all lavishly dressed, even down to a "lady pirate" on the right who appears to be reading a book.
The image is also nicely composed and I like how the lines of the cobblestones even seem to lead the eye into the picture very effectively.
Good light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness. But, most of all, lots of fun!
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Jean,
I would be nervous about the man pointing his pistol at your lens. He realizes he is being photographed by a member of the paparazzi. Wonderful colors and resolution.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Jean,
I was busy observing this unusual scene that it took some time until I suddenly noticed the pirate pointing his pistol towards the viewer:) The already interesting scene became more intense and amusing -although he looks serious and the gentleman next to him has an unsettling expression too:) Clarity and depth are marvellous, I like the definition of textures and colours as well as the effect of the soft shadows. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,
Ourania

Hi Jean
perhaps the Pirate that you were pointing a gun at him :)
but isn't it funny how you didn't even know until after! That happens when you're so immersed into the scene.
funny looking outfits
fun shot

Your "Pirate Weekend" look more authentic than the one we had in Las Vegas and where a pirate woman aimed a dagger at me! Those events are fun to photograph, love period costumes. Good pov and nice details. Well done, tfs.
