Photographer's Note

The site created by Adam Silverman will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 4th 2012, which should come quickly now.
I thought of launching a call for posting into an anniversary theme, for October 4th, give Adam a surprise maybe, even if he has left the company by now.
We have this interesting convivial site thanks to him.
I hope that a lot of members will post a photo for the event and for the theme, and perhaps write an anniversary message to Adam either through the "contact" button on his TE profile or to his address : [email protected]

PS. The theme is " Anniversary 10 years of TE " p6 of the themes.
Feel free to add to it during the whole month of October. A month isn't too much to celebrate 10 years of very enjoyable time with members from all over the world.

I have also posted this message HERE in the announcements of the forums. However, I know that a lot of members hardly ever go to the forums. So it would be good if everybody interested contacted as many people as possible, or wrote about it in the notes of their new posts , in order to create a sort of snowball effect.
Perhaps, even people who have left the site might care to make a new post just this once. Who knows ?
For that day, some people may organise TE meetings that seem to have been so popular amongst some members.
Any other ideas ?

PPS.In the forum discussion, Viviane-Porteplume reminds us that the posts for the theme will have to obey the TOS rules which Adam initiated himself, i.e. no common flowers, bottles of champagne, birthday candles or other common objects that teach nothing about the world.

About the photo : For the occasion, I thought of posting these old symbols of travel. In French, there is a saying "Les voyages forment la jeunesse et dιforment les valises" "Travels shape youth and "unshape" suitcases" :-)
The picture was taken at Cheddleton old railway station where some fervent enthusiasts have refurbished the buildings, the old locomotives and wagons, and turned the place into a live open air museum. (See my pics 112 & 114 p2 of my UK gallery.)
Rides on the train are encouraged.

In questo momento le parole pesano come macigni.
Sono fresco in TE, aprile 2008,purtroppo di Adam dopo il 2003/12/25 non trovo foto. Poco piω di un anno dalla fondazione.
Emigrazione in altri siti : molti amici andati via per sempre e molti in un sito (amico) che conosci bene.
Dal 2008 al 2009 c'θ stato un compatto gruppo italiano nutrito, adesso scomparso (quasi).
Anche tu segui questo sito da esterna.
Io , credimi, con affetto ti dico che non ho mai pensato di cambiare nulla, neanche il mondo o la politica.
Apprezzo la tua iniziativa e farς qualche cosa che tu suggerisci, ma con onesto realismo, e con la mia vecchia etΰ penso che chi θ "adulto" fa scelte adulte.
Io, non sono "adulto" e vivo nell'indifferenza, sperando che nessuno faccia appelli per me.
Ti dico che mi dispiace non esserci piω molti vecchi amici, di cui perς seguo costantemente le foto pubblicate altrove.
L'atteggiamento che condivido in TE θ di due miei amici che continuano tranquillamente a pubblicare, interpretando un ruolo coerente.
Nel tuo appello vedo una commemorazione di cui molti non sanno a chi rivolgerla.

cette allιgorie photographique pour annoncer le proche 10θme anniversaire de Trekearth est absolument fantastique.
Les valises dans la brouette nous ιvoquent une maniθre de voyager "ΰ l'ancienne", mais trθs romantique, au moyen du chemin de fer.
J'aime le contraste entre les valises et les fleurs avec ses couleurs vives, dans une composition trθs bien vue et trθs bien rιalisιe.

This sight jogs many memories of the days when I used to wait for the train to pull into the station - I would look at the old trolly [ like this one ] piled high with old suitcases - this really creates a feeling of nostalgia - I adore this photo - well done it is wonderfully taken - sharp in detail & the colours are great.

Composition formidable, ΰ la fois beau message et ..., valises, quelque chose que l'on aime presque tout le monde, il est synonyme de voyage et de nouvelles photos ... les fleurs, car ils embellissent tout et c'est un joli message amour et de souvenirs.

Great post in anticipation of an impressive anniversary, Marie Louise. This is a sweet and nostalgic shot, with the antique luggage piled up in order - a still life, waiting to travel! It is an interesting concept to have an anniversary theme. I don't think I have seen a theme on here before!
Your shot is delightful, with memories of train travel, when everything fitted in a suitcase and had to be carried to and from the station! The piled suitcases make a pleasing pyramidal pattern and are complememnted by the colourful flower display. Good sharpness and colours complete this memory jogging shot.

TE a dix ans et c'est un bel hommage ΰ ce site qui donne envie d'ouvrir et de fermer ses valises pour voyager comme tu l'expliques dans ta note.Ce carrι est bien maitrisι avec ce bouquet floral qui donne un trθs bon cachet ΰ cette image.
Personnellement je ne publierai pas d'image pour les dix ans de TE,tout simplement parce que trop de membres ont quittι le navire pour des raisons que tous les membres connaissent.Il m'arrive souvent d'avoir envie de dire Adieu mais je reste parce qu'il y a encore des personnes auxquelles je suis restι attachι.Lorsque j'ai vu la vignette,je me suis dit ceci:
-Encore quelqu'un qui va quitter TE en voyant toutes ces valises!!

Of your anniversary theme shots, this is closest to my heart as I'm also often coming and going.
Impressive pile of old bags. Flowers are colourful and their own charm. Almost square framing fits well.
A pity it's not possible to add pictures to that theme at the moment. I hope the problem will be solved soon.

This is a lovely trio of photographs but I think that this one is by far the best of them. The pile of suitcases on the barrow is beautifully lit and is balanced well by the gloriously colourful flowers surrounding the corner of the brick wall.

Beautiful colours, lovely lighting, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

A very fitting photograph for TE's tenth anniversary!

Hi Marie-Louise,

A photo that was taken four years ago and I think this is the reason why the framing is a bit tight at the top and bottom. I quite sure that the framing would have been a little less tight if you had taken it today. However, this just a minor thing. As a whole the photo is excellent. The perspective, composition, lighting and sharpness are all very good. And the inclusion of the beautiful flower is really great. TFS and have a fine week!

Hi Marie Louise,
I have a few old valises (or should I say, valizler as we say in Turkish?) that I could contribute to this museum. We even have one that doesn't stay unlocked, we can open it with a key but as soon as we close it, it stays locked, which means it is no good for air travel these days.
This is a very fitting photo for the 10th anniversary of TE, which I missed by a few months. It would be perfect if the one corner of the lowermost suitcase could be included.
