In the heart of Warsaw & The Royal Castle (in the background) – (1400th post)
The Old town is the best place for walks. Most of the Old Town area is closed to traffic and it a paradise for pedestrians.
Most interesting walks in the Old Town are in the vicinity of the market square and Royal Castle square. Here you will find many narrow, cobbled streets with quaint antique shops, cafes, beautiful old houses. Piwna Street takes you across much of the Old Town and passes through multiple tourist attractions such as St Martin's Church or Zapiecek Street. Waski Dunaj Street is known for its unique charm and beauty - you can find many old houses well maintained, Guild of Leather Crafts Museum, St. Anna's House, Broad and Narrow Dunaj
There are usually lots of artists performing outside in the vicinity of market square and Royal Castle square - when the weather is warm. If one gets tired walking - then there are plenty of carriage horses around awaiting you in the market square.
The Royal Castle
The pride and joy of Warsaw's Old Town is the Royal Castle and its surrounding square, "Plac Zamkowy," in the local tongue. As all of its fellow Old Town (re)constructions, the Castle stands as a testament to the city's phoenix-like resilience. In fact, this monument was so dutifully recreated, that its new facade garnered the privilege of being included on the UNESCO list.
An absolute must, when visiting the castle, are the Royal Apartments and State Rooms. These make for a good trip in their own right. However, couple that with some world-class exhibitions and you've got yourself some solid weekend plans. Here you'll find a few top-notch regular exhibitions as well as one-off presentations of the highest calibre. Be sure to check our events calendar for special concerts at the castle.
You cannot get anywhere near the Royal Castle without noticing the Sigismond Column (Kolumna Zygmunta). Built in 1644 to commemorate Kind Sigismond III Vasa, this impressive structure honours the ruler who in 1596 moved the capital from Krakow to Warsaw (a day which lives in infamy, in the minds of Krakovians, at least...).
The Constitution of 3 May 1791 was drafted here by the Four-Year Sejm. In the 19th century, after the collapse of the November Uprising, it was used as an administrative center by the Tsar. Between 1926 and World War II the palace was the seat of the Polish president, Ignacy Moscicki. After the devastation done by Nazis during the Warsaw Uprising, the Castle was rebuilt and reconstructed. In 1980, Royal Castle, together with the Old Town was registry in UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today it is a historical and national monument, and is listed as a national museum. (Source: Warsaw-life)

Hello George,
First, many congratulations on 1400 postings. I like this lively and attractive composition. The point of view is well chosen with the eyes being taken via the lamps toward the focal point of the church tower. The colour palette is very harmonious under a lovely soft light. Very good clarity.

Bonjour George,
Un fantastique cadrage vertical qui nous introduit dans l'image en serrant les épaules dans la rue étroite pour atteindre ce beau clocher. J'aime l'animation que donne les passants.

Hi George,
this is one of my favorite views in Warsaw old town. I took similar picture several times (not shown on TE). I like how the castle is visible through the narrow street. Excellent processing which emphasizes colors and details.
The only thing which I would consider here would be the slight correction of the perspective to make the lines along the left edge parallel to the frame.
Excellent capture,
M

Ciao Giorgio,
per dirti che questo scorcio da dove si intravede la torre del castello è ancoro più bello della precedente forse per il contrasto di luci e ombre molto ben studiato.
La qualità è eccellente come l'altra.
Ancora complimenti sinceri, fortunato chi abita in unaq città così bella!

Hello George,
1400 - wow thats a big number of excellent posts and critiques. A good choice for your jubilee post.
I like the bright church peeping from behind the shady street. Some more human elements than I like but still a impressive postcard from the capital of our neighbour county Poland.
Thanks for sharing this,
