Photographer's Note
The city of Bergamo is diveded in two, The upper city (Bergamo Alta) and the lower city (Bergamo Bassa). The upper city is located on a hilltop medieval town, surrounded by 17th century cyclopic defensive walls. In this picture you see Piazza Vecchia (Old square) that in Medieval times was the administrative centre of the city. The white building is the New palace (Palazzo Nuovo) It was designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi in the early 17th century but only completed in 1928, today is the civic library.The fountain in the center is called Fontana del Podesta' erected by A. Contarini in 1780. This picture has been taken from the Old palace (Palazzo Vecchio) one of the main attractions of the city along with the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore (Saint Mary Major), the Cappella Colleoni (Colleoni chapel, the The Battistero (Baptistry) and Duomo or Cathedral of Bergamo, all easily reachable from this place.

Very nice presentation of the square and the palace. Very good POV overlooking the square. Interesting is the fountain in the center of the square. Beautiful colors and excellent sharpness.

Ciao Alessandro, You have come through with another excellent picture. The new palace is now the library. Bravo, not occupied by Barons or Counts. I am really impressed with your view of this square and palace. Italians have a great taste for beauty and this is one for sure. I like the Italian flags prominently displayed on the library. The white tablecloths on the tables on the right side of the square also show "class". Trying to figure out if the place with the white canopy is part of the restaurant. I was in Milan about seven years ago. Fabulous place. Beautiful church or basilica there. REgards, Have a great week. Roger

That beautiful place! how different this image of when I saw a day of torrential rain. The POV I think from the staircase leading up to the Old Palace is splendid with the graphics of the floor, the beautiful fountain and the Library. The presence of peoples makes it alive this image.
