Photographer's Note

An old stationary steam engine once used for pulling logs around a sawmill.
Ladysmith, BC, is a former coal-mining, then former logging centre currently re-marketed as a retirement community. Relics from its industrial past are presented around the town along its main streets.
This particular machine is near Transfer Beach, so-called for the transfer of coal from rail car to ship.
