A Tamil Hindu temple festival without drums and traditional dancing, that will never happen, in particular not when the festival is held for their very important God Mariamman. This drum band most probably was the best on 28th February, when the Tamils in Kedah, in particular in Alor Star, were celebrating their kavadi festival for Mariamman. When the devotees are set in trance they are drumming like mad, then when the kavadi carrier start their walk and dance to the other temple they will accompany them, to give the right beat to dance for the God. Some of the drummers are outstanding and give everything what they have like the fellow at the left, he really was leading them and the young Tamils despite being dressed Western style could not sit still, they had to dance to the beat.
