Photographer's Note
In essence another top-down children shot.
But these two children live just outside the grounds of the killing fields of Choeung Ek, outside Phnom Phen, Cambodia.
They try to help make a living for their family by performing a gimmick whenever they spot a tourist with a camera.
They come running up to you and do their yell "one, two, three, smile!", with matching gestures, hoping to make a couple of real. They're pretty persistant too.
But when you take a close look at the expression in their eyes, you might catch a little of the incredible harshness of their young lives, with very little to smile about.

excellent shot fred! very well captured. good notes too, the pov indeed emphasises the kids dependence on this extra income. the little boy's expression still looks more curious than anything else but the girl who has probably been doing this longer, her eyes just speak volumes, in sharp contrast with the hand gesture.

what a shot. The tiny little girl has an expression in her eyes that she already lived for more than hunderd years. Sad to know that some children dont have a youth.

Fred, I am sorry your shot did not get all the attention it deserves, so far. It is one of the best and more powerful from the last few days on TE. Great image, very photo-journalistic in a way, and even without the notes, your message is conveyed in the shot alone.
The towering angle was the only one possible for that type of story. Thanks!

yes, they are professionals of a sort; no choice. Did you take this pic from just standing? informative but sad note. Green gone today...

I can't help but laugh when I look at this picture. Their expressions are perfect. The description takes some of the humor out of it but I love this photo.
Good job!
