Photographer's Note
Προτομή της Έρκυνας στον ομώνυμο ποταμό, έργο που φιλοτέχνησε ο λειβαδίτης καλλιτέχνης Σπύρος Γουργιώτης.
Η πόλη βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 200 μέτρων, στο δυτικό τμήμα του νομού, στο άκρο της πεδιάδας της Κωπαΐδας, 130 χιλιόμετρα βορειοανατολικά της Αθήνας και 30 περίπου χιλιόμετρα από την πλησιέστερη ακτή του νομού (Παραλία Διστόμου ή Άσπρα Σπίτια).
Βόρεια της πόλης εκτείvεται o Παρνασσός και vότια o Ελικώνας στoυς πρόπoδες τoυ oπoίoυ είναι κτισμέvη η παλιά πόλη της Λιβαδειάς. Διαρρέεται από τον μικρό ποταμό Έρκυνα.
Bust of Erkynas in the homonym river, work the Leibaditis artist Spyros Goyrgiotis. The city is found in altitude of 200 metres, in the western department of prefecture, in utmost the plain of Copais, 130 kilometres of north-easternly Athens and 30 roughly kilometres from the nearest coast of prefecture (Beach Distomoy or White Houses). North the city it appears o Parnassos and east o Elikonas in their foot of that she is built the old city of Libadeias.It passes from the small river Erkyna.

Γειά σου Αφροδίτη! Πολυαγαπημένη κόρη του Τροφωνίου ήταν η όμορφη νύμφη Έρκυνα. Η καλύτερη φίλη της Έρκυνας ήταν η Περσεφόνη, κόρη της θεάς Δήμητρας. Μπήκαν στην σπηλιά ακολουθόντας την χήνα και είδαν να ξεχύνετε ένα ποτάμι Σήμερα, το όνομα αυτό φέρει ο μικρός ποταμός, ο οποίος διασχίζει τη Λεβαδειά! Τί ωραία εικόνα που συνδυάζετε με την μυθολογία!
