Les Arnes de Nmes sont un amphithtre romain qui a t bti la fin du Ier sicle pour divertir la population.
Lors des Grandes invasions, il se transforme en village fortifi, le castrum arenae o la population va se rfugier, puis constitue au moyen-age jusq'au XIXe sicle un quartier avec ses rues et ses boutiques.

L'difice a une structure elliptique, longue de 133 mtres, large de 101 mtres et haute de 21 mtres et a une capacit de 13 000 places assises.

Nimes Arena is Roman amphitheatre which was built at the end of 1st Century to divert people.
During the Great invasions, it is transformed into strengthened village, castrum arenae where the population will take refuge, then constitutes durins Middle Ages until 19th Century a district with its streets and its shops.

The building has a 133 meters long elliptic broad structure, 101 wide and 21 high. It has a capacity of 13.000 sitted places.
