Photographer's Note
This is second of a series of succulent plants I shot in Peru in April 2005. My friend and I were exploring the 16th century Monastery of Santa Catalina. The place was all but deserted. The colors of the walls and beautiful succulent plants were intense on this dry, sunny afternoon. The light was perfect. All of the sudden bells started ringing all over the monastery and all over the city. We learned that Pope John Paul had just died. It was an incredible experience. Later that evening the churches were packed with the faithful paying respect to their Pope.
I did very little to edit this photo other than autolevels in Photoshop. Saturation and colors are untouched.

The colors are astounding... The plant is colorful, but the bright wall really brightens it. The light is perfect, I wonder, was it in the shade? The shape is really interesting too. Thanks for such a good note.
