Light is energy.
Energy feeds life.
Light is a essential element to us; living creatures. At least to a big part of the existing ones.
However there are lifeforms that can survive in complete absence of light.
These creatures deploy by themselves a light system to be able to survive.
This historical association of life - light holds true until now.
Light enables us to have a colored vision, to be able to participate and survive in this world.
Our eyes need light to work. To distinguish forms, shapes and colors.
At a more developed stage of civilization and technology and art, we; photographers depend on light.
So it is a never ending miracle to see the light for the first time. Every day somewhere, at all latitudes a new child is being borned.
Life goes on my friends, to keep it is our goal.
To represent it, in its diversity in photographs is our art.

Una genialidad Cesar... sinceramente si le das un efecto con PS podria convertirse en una pintura de uno de los grandes de la historia.
no se si pudiste elegir o no el POV pero es perfecto, asν como la iluminacion tan particular y exacta.

An impressive photo. A convincing note. Light also helps us see fragility, and I think that your picture is an example of it. Unfortunately, we cannot give light as a present to someone but we can help others to see it (also figurative), and this is a present already.

Incredible catch of the miraculous moment of newborn life, Cesar, very touching and powerful. The way in which the baby and the hands are isolated against the surrounding hospital setting works out to the most effective. Great work.

This is beautiful Cesar! I've attended only one birth and it was surely one of the most profound experiences of my lifetime. Here you capture this precious moment with tenderness and high art. You manage the limited light very well and your crop couldn't be better. As you observe in your note, the key here is the illumination of the newborn's face as it emerges into the world. Remarkable to observe this is a passage we have all taken, that each of us was this small and vulnerable as we began our journeys. The miracle of life is worth celebrating and the preciousness of life is worth remembering, especially when it is so often treated with callous disregard. Thank you for reminding us of what is important in this world.

It is impressive for me the moment of taking self the first breath action and the first contact with the light. The scientists says this ist the first shock for the newborn in his new environment. at first I was quite socked when I saw this very photo beacause of its rarity!...then I realised that it is not so rare..it will happen to everyone sooner or later...but you captured these few magical moments of a human coming to life!...so common and so rare at the same time...and you gave it a poetic touch by your photographic skills and your excellent writing...excellent!!

Ok...in terms of compo..i don't really like it..mostly because it's too long, and i have to scroll down to see the wonder that it is life..
But, as for the light that falls on the babys face, the way he is blessed from this moment on -- is magical, and that only(not to speak of the emotional load it has) makes this one a favourite, and makes me proud to have seen it.

.. so we all been and know in that country called "life" and that's how we looked like at the beginning...
thanks for putting this one online, although I have a child I did not have the guts to attend her birth... I have a problem with anything medical (docs would have had two problems instead of one...)... I guess this is how I would have liked to see her for the first time...

This is really very unique photo! Congratulations! For managing the light on the person in shadow and background and in the same time - on that small human being. The composition is perfect, I'm glad to see those adult eyes in darkness - watching with care. I like the contrast between naked baby and clothed person - those clothes are for protecting this new life, but on the second hand separate them as something artificial (as also medicaments in background)... Would like to read something about circumstances you took this. P.

Remarkable shot! It reminds me of the night my daughter was born, 3 years ago. I was in no shape to take photos then - I was too excited and/or anxious! The way the new born's face is lit by the light is superb.

So many people tick the "Decisive Moment" label when it's really not decisive at all, and you go and say this is just a "Daily Life" picture! :-)
I can't think of a more decisive moment than this. That is, for em, the main merit of this one, the way you put us into this moment, a moment that fascinates me...
