More Than Just Moai III, a photo from Valparaiso, Central Valley

Sorry for the lack of postings this past week, I've been a bit busier than usual.

Continuing with my little mini theme of showing the landscapes and daily life of Easter Island, I'll show you this photo and 2 more in the WS.

This gem of a view is literally just 5 min from the Airport landing strip :)

The Airport was only 5 min away (in a different direction) from the town center as well - if we had known that we could have walked! But the family we were staying with make a point to pick you up and greet you as you land! :)

There is a 'ring road' that you can drive, taking you around the Island, but not the entire Island. There are parts of it that are paved, parts of it that are flat dirt like you see here, and parts that are totally full of large large large pot holes which give you a severe headache and nausea! Guess you could say the road is a mixture of everything.

Thats why you need a jeep to get around. Renting a jeep is about $70 a day, well worth it! We rented ours for about 3 or 4 days. There's only 1 gas station for the entire Island, so sometimes you'll find a long lineup :)

I'd love to use the "Map View" to show you were this is on the Island, but it hasn't been working lately on TE, hopefully it'll be corrected soon.

I guess this nice coastal view could have been taken anywhere, but actually just knowing it's from Easter Island makes it a bit more interesting. (I'm even curious about what the village/town looks like.) The colors complement each other perfectly and they're very well saturated. The clouds are quite charming too.

Dont you hate it when work gets in the way of play! Fantastic warm cold colour contrasts between the yellow flowers at bottom left, the red dirt road at right (which also adds good lead in lines & perspective) and the blue sky complete with interesting repetitive cloud patterns. Have a great and less stressful week!

These are great Craig, I'm amazed that this is simply five minutes from the airport...it has a feeling of almost complete isolation!

What a dramatic, and yet relatively plain countryside you've shown us...each image feels to tell a different story of the island in its own unique way. I'm really loving the color pallet here, the rustic red road works as a sublime compliment to the blues and that touch of yellow amongst the green...and of course, the clouds play another big role in the sensation of vast open spaces.

The slightly lower point of view feels to make a connection with the land, and a brilliant idea to "stop and smell the roses" in order to obtain an image which most would not think to take. Another beauty! :)

Hello Craig,

Well, you have treated us to 3 for the price of 1, today! This doesn't in any way indicate that it is a shot of Easter Island but we know it is and that, somehow, makes it all the more interesting! It is full of warmth and colours, with a sky of fluffy clouds to add to the attraction (giving us lovely shadow contrasts on the ground) and a well chosen lead line to scoot us along!

a fascinating shot again of the "other" Easter Island and one that shows that you did have some good weather too. It is an idyllic mix of earth, sky and ocean with a glorious red road that just wants the viewer to see more of what is around the bend. Beautiful - as are the workshops images too!

The brownish road, flowers, sea, land - everything in the lower third, and a beautiful sky with clouds cover the rest - unique composition. What I like most is the tone - in all three of them.

Open seaside landscape full of flowers remind me of Ireland. What a colourful view, even the road adds extra tones there. Big sky looks good too, especially on large size.

This is a such a wonderful example of how to make an interesting picture out of quite simple elements. The position of the dirt road sweeping in from the corner and the yellow flowers make the FG interesting. Then the space given to the lovely sky gives 'freedom' to this very well taken landscape. Stunning work.

Fascinating color swatch on this coast, an extraordinary contrast of the red dirt road, with the green and yellow flowers near the sea, the sky is stunning and complete a beautiful postcard nature.

what a beautiful seascape! I like very much this sky decorated nicely with the attractively shaped clouds. The road is red which adds a very nice surprising touch, plus you got also yellow flowers so that the range of colors is even wider. beautiful composition, pleasure to look at.

Another fine shot from this remote place. Love the colours here. The brown/red road goes well together with the meadow with yellow flowers. The blue sky with the puffy clouds are really the icing of the cake. Very well done! TFS.

Say me please what do Chile and Island have common in the nature and landscape? I think the Arctic and the Antarctic significantly affect to the climate.

there's not architecture in this composition, just a beautiful and wild landscape of Easter Island, which you offers us in order to see something more than Moais.
I like the good framing and the depth of image, in a nice perspective of the red path, and the good contrast with the vivid tones of the landscape and of the beautiful sky and the clouds.
All this have created a splendid composition.
