Photographer's Note
I wanted to post this photo because its the same composition of the Moai statue I posted before, but this time in much different lighting.
My previous photo (titled contemplation) was taken before sunrise and the Moai was casted in a total silhouette, with a hint of colors in the bg.
Now the landscape is illuminated a bit more, and you can see how large the tiny Island looks from this vantage point.
In the bg, you can see the long line of 15 Moai standing together.
This was one of my favorite locations on the Island, truly magical. This early in the morning we were totally alone, nobody around us at all, except for a few wild horses galloping and occasionally stopping to eat the grass. They literally galloped directly infront of my tripod! You really do feel the need to pinch yourself when standing here, because you just don't believe what you're seeing.
I'll post 2 WS photos, one of the 15 Moai statues, and another photo of some Ocean views.
Hope you like it

Hi Craig,
Of course I like it - no I don't - I love it!!
The light here is truly magical and you have captured the moment and the scene perfectly. The bright sky contrasts well with the dark Moai and the grassland around but yet we can still see perfect details in both the deepest shadows and also in the brightest parts of the image.
Your composition is excellent, the light and colours are divine and the details and sharpness, as always, are exquisite.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi, Craig, my neighbor today,
So dramatic sky... The clouds add more expression to this composition from the end of the world. Very interesting report, I think it was not cheap jorney, isn't it?
Best wishes,

Ciao Craig
Ciao e buona settimana

Hello, Craig!
That's one the places that I want to go soon! At the beginning of the year there was a great sales promotion to the Easter Island by TAM and LAN, but I lost it... The sunset captured is beautiful with the Moai in the foreground! Wonderful composition! Very good job!

Hi Craig, a nice shot here. Love the semi-silhouetted stone made artwork. Very dramatic light condition and you tackled it superbly to bring out some details from the rock. Great background. A very well composed one. Tfs.

Hi Craig,
You really should be getting paid by the tourist board here, every time I see one of your posts I wish I wish I wish I had something planned to see this place. The light here is incredible, very mystical which is perfectly fitting for such a strange place. I love that we can see all of the other statues off in the distance too, brilliant scene.
All the best

Hi Craig,
This is the dream place to be visited, lucky you.
The mysterious statue as a silhouette, stands before the grey sky and the hint of orange sunrise. I'm sure this is one of your masterpieces.

Hello Craig,
I can't deny the magic of this place and in this light. The clouds seem to have been delivered as ordered. I will save a lot of money looking at this and your other photos instead of going all the way there myself. But you should have tried to make a link to the earlier picture to make the comparizon easier :-).
Have a good week.

Hello Craig,
I've the feeling that you were always just by yourself to discover this mysterious island.
I love the desolation of this coast where the mysterious Moai make a great impression.
The clouds in the sky add to that secretive image of the island where most of us will never get.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Craig - This shot gives the impression of an timeless and continuing environment. The statues stand aloof, unconcerned by those who view them. It's strange that these man-made icons should appear to have their own personality and existence which transcends mankind. A fascinating shot which raises many questions for me about these inanimate 'beings' and the relationship their creators had both with them and the natural world. Powerful and mysterious! Warm regards rosemary

Hi Craig,
it΄s easy to understand why you want to get back there so much.
The combination of these Moai statues and so beautiful light makes the shot very moody. It΄s tranquil and above all so mysterious.
I΄m also impressed how excellently you were able to depict details and colors in the FG so good.
Have a nice day

Craig, this shot has really nice mood lighting; glad you resisted trying to lighten everything up. The clouds seem to point directly at the head of the Moai in the foreground. This really does look like an amazing place. Thanks.

Hi Craig,
Also for me it was my favorite location with the line of fifteen moais standing back to the sea. Magical view here with a really special light. Excellent composition and the clouds seem to radiate from moai. Marvelous light and colour.

Overwhelming …. I can just about feel the thrill The ancient structures stand against an awesome background of the sea and the sky.... The sensations are surely primal. The photograph is so well structured that the reaction of the viewer is strong and immediate. The long lines of dark clouds, the coastline, the small line of statues, the strands of old pathways in the bottom-left: all seem to merge into the primary subject of the Moal – which is set against a well lit background on the right.... We live in a beautiful world Craig. Thanks for sharing the moment.

Hello Craig,
both the close view of the lonely Moai and the distant view of the group of 15 are awesome. I believe it's wonderful and touching to have both views in the same frame, under such a fascinating lighting and in so rich and moody colours. Your point of view is superb, apart from an immense view, you've associated the dynamism of the clouds with the solitary Moai so intriguingly. The textures have been rendered marvellously, the breaking light is touching the scenery ever so mildly. Truly suggestive, congratulations and thank you! The workshop pictures are wonderful, their atmosphere is strikingly different.
All the best, have a lovely day,
Ourania

Sorry I'm late critiquing this: I've been away for several weeks. I love the moody lighting, the subdued colours, and the pattern of clouds that seem to be pointing at the Moai statue. Excellent work.

Hi, my friend Craig,
the cloudy sky is very efficient aesthetically, the landscape is awesome, and I like your framing and the structure of your composition, with the solitary Moai in foreground, and the line of 15 Moai together in background.
The image is deep and sharp, and you managed well the light and the quality of colours for to give a nice atmosphere into this shot. I like both WS as well.
A great work.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello Craig,
This is an unusually successful photo of a Moai set against the rising sun. Until you pointed them out, I had missed the line of Moai statues. I have not seen all your shots from Chile yet, but was this part of a cruise, and, if so, what line?
An early Happy Holiday Season to you,

Hello Craig,
A beautiful and unique moment you captured here.
Easter Island always remember me the sad facts like eco-catastrophe as pointed out the book of Collapse(author Jared M. Diamond). Your photo represent that dramatic issue with perfect perspective and depth picture.
