Photographer's Note
I'm too tempted to post another photo from Easter Island. As i've said before, out of every destination I have ever traveled to, Easter Island is my favorite.
To see the Moai heads looking out onto the landscape and the Ocean is a sight to behold.
We all know how small Easter Island is, but when you're out there on the landscape it doesn't feel small. Infact, the only thing that seems small is you yourself!
Hope you like it

I just watched a TV special on how they moved these heads into position ... very interesting. Indeed the place is globally unique. Interesting what cultures and people do. This photo is taken from a very nice position as it does reflect the heads view of the sea and the emptiness of trees and vegetation throughout the island. TFS

Hello Craig,
Seeing this I get a feeling that most of the time we see the Moai from up front so that we can all admire their faces. Here you have changed the perspective to let us anjoy the view of the grasslands and the horizon along with the Moai. I suddenly realize that's what they're doing. Maybe everybody else knew that all the time. I didn't.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Craig,
Don't fight the urge...in fact, I encourage you to continually post more from here, these have truly been some great shots! Through your pictures I can sure understand the awe, inspiring views and curious history that abounds on the islands. The Moai are fascinating, and you've done a terrific job showing them in new and interesting ways.
This particular composition gives me the sensation of standing right along side, looking out to the ocean, just as they appear to be doing. :) A perfect sliver of blue horizon waters, and the lighter blue sky and green fields are, in all of its minimal nature, simply gorgeous! Seriously, keep 'em comin'! Take it easy.
Cheers,
Jason

Hello Craig,
Besides the Moai figures we get here also a great view of the desolate coastline of Easter Island.
I wonder if the whole island consists of such grassland.
Beautiful contrast with the blue ocean and the sky.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Craig, it seemed to me that I saw all the Moai on the Easter island, I spent there 6 days, but I do not remember these two. Where could they be? For me also, Easter island is my favorite magical place, along with Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza.
have a nice Sunday

Hello Craig,
This shot gives a much mellower, friendlier view of the island. The heads are looking out across an open expanse of greenery to the sea, and the future. It is a timeless scene.
I love the composition, the heads so well placed and the sea more inferred than specified. Excellent sharpness and a good use of the shadows.
Have a great Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig!
The famous statues from Easter Island. Good shot, from good POV. They look like guards of the Island and simultaneously they are very alone.
I like the excellent sky with white clouds like cotton wool. TFS
Have a nice Sunday,

Hello Craig
I can easily understand why you are tempted to post this one, it is superb. The two statues, so iconic for the easter islands, looking over the wide open landscape towards the distant sea is brilliant.
Still the easter island are on my personal bucket list as well but alas they are quite out of the way I must say.
have a great sunday

Hello Craig. The Easter Island are of course a very special destination. The photo shows the peculiar scenic beauty. The essentials are the stone figures here. Overall a very nice photo.

Hello Craig,
A cleverly constructed composition with the two stone figures well placed in the frame and showing how they relate to the landscape. I like also that we catch a glimpse of the surrounding ocean. Very good technical presentation as ever.

Hello Craig,
a place seldom visited, and a well exposed representation of great solitude. Thanks for sharing, and

Hi Craig
A simple, almost minimalist shot, with the famous stone-heads well placed in the frame. Their strong shadows and the well rendered sky make this a quite powerful shot. I like the (possibly deliberat?) thin strip of sea, absolutely essential in this shot.
BTW, a former prime minister of Australia, Malcolm Fraser, was said to have the appearance of one of these!

Andrew

Hello Craig,
it΄s probably one of the most remote and mysterious island and culture on Earth,so looking at your picture here I can easily understand your awe.
Everytime I see these Moai heads and sculptures on your pictures-they create always unique and mysterious atmosphere of the photographed scenes.
Awesome shot!
Have a nice sunday

Hello Craig - These heads are so iconic; to me they seem to have been looking forward to the future since they were first erected. Here the composition underlines that thought; they stare out benignly making no comment and passing no judgement. Somehow they seem to join past, present and future and although the landscape seems vast they have such presence within it. I can understand why Easter Island is your favourite destination. Beautiful rich colours and a simple but striking composition. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Craig,
If you series of shots from Easter Island doesnt improve tourism, nothing will. Such a mysterious place, and such a beautiful place. Have to agree, these giant heads look very cool looking out over the landscape and sea. I have to wonder what they are waiting for. Beautiful sky to compliment the magical land.
Cheers

Hi Craig,
Another splendid picture from this fantastic place. Lovely composition with the two statues casting their shadow onto the ground before them and also breaking into the line of the horizon. Nice richness in colour and good sharpness.

Hi Craig!
Go ahead, this place is magical and there are not so many people posting photos of it. I like this one also, it gives us the feeling of wide space and the Moai are great looking at the sea, just like if they are really enjoying the view. Nice addition to your series!

Hello Craig,
this picture is wonderful, suggestive and really touching. Your point of view is excellent allowing us to observe the lonely, imposing and mysterious heads rooted for so many centuries on this ground and at the same time share their own vast and fixed point of view. I like very much how they are connected through the shadow and how they irresistibly guide us to follow their glance. The light, the colours and the textures are natural and very beautiful, there's a suggestive stillness and calmness in the atmosphere. I also like how the narrow strip of blue between land and sky evokes the immense vastness of the ocean that separates this place from the rest of the world. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great Sunday,
Ourania
