Photographer's Note

The Upanemas Beach belongs to Areia Branca city. This small town is located at atlantic west coast of Rio Grande do Norte, northeastern brazilian state and its around 330 km from Natal, the state capital. This region is called by White Coast because there are the marines salt. Along this coast, closes the Upanemas Beach there are a lot of others beaches with wonderful landscapes, for example, Ponta do Mel Beach, with many sand dunes and a lot of reefs. The economic activity is based in extraction of marine salt and of the oil. In 1974, was built the island port of Areia Branca for flowing away the production of the salt of the region. This State exported 7,000 ton of salt daily. The access is by BR-304 from Natal to Fortaleza.
