This banner was created by the same baroque master (Veiga Valle). It is positioned above the entrance of the same church I showed you before and you can see the closed door of it.
This banner is used during one of the most important religious events in central Brazil, during the Holly Week the lights of the town are turned off and a big procession begins. It is named Procissγo do Fogarιu (Procession of the big fire). Each colonial church of the town of Goiαs is used as a stage for a scene of the prison and condemnation of Jesus.
This tradition was brought from southern Spain during 19th century by a Spanish priest and last for centuries. A group of men (representing the Roman soldiers) are dressed with mantles and pointed hoods taking torches across the town and hunting Jesus, when He is finally caught Jesus is represented by this same banner.

Esse estandarte foi criado pelo mesmo mestre do barroco goiano (Veiga Valle). A peηa estα posicionada junto ΰ porta de entrada da mesma igreja que tenho mostrado.
Esse estandarte ι usado durante o mais importante evento religioso do centro do Brasil, a Procissγo do Fogarιu, quando se encena a captura, prisγo e condenaηγo de Jesus em Jerusalιm. Os penitentes se vestem com mantos e com capuzes pontudos e caminham descalηos pelas ruas, representam os soldados romanos em busca de Jesus. Cada igreja representa um palco desse evento e quando finalmente Jesus ι apanhado ele estα representado nesse estandarte. Essa tradiηγo foi trazida do sul da Espanha por um padre espanhol no sιculo 19 e estα viva atι hoje.
