Series on my trip to the CHAPADA DIAMANTINA (DIAMOND MOUNTAIN RANGE) - State of BAHIA - The NORTHEASTERN REGION of BRAZIL - From August 1st to 9th, 2009 - # 004 !

CACHOEIRA DA FUMAΗA !
SMOKE WATERFALLS !

That was my second day in the CHAPADA DIAMANTINA. Had a very good breakfeast at the hotel and took a Toyota small truck to go to CAPΓO (a small village in the mountains), in the municipality of PALMEIRAS. Some 70km around the main hills and heading south. When I got there, got ready to climb up 2km and then walk around 4km on the plateau until I could reach those waterfalls. It hadn't rained much in july so many visitors got there and there was no water! I was fortunate, because it rained a couple of days before I was there and I could see it like this! It's a gorge of 380m! Kind of scared looking at it the way we do to have this sight, laying on a big stone over the abyss!

A very good capture of these falls, nicely enhanced by the little rainbow. The falling waters are well exposed. Good natural looking colours and fine clarity. Your expedition sounds very adventurous!

Linda imagem da cachoeira da fumaηa, com direito atι ao arco-νris! A αgua cai formando uma cortina de spray. Ι para ter medo mesmo, 380 metros de abismo...

Gracias de veras por tus comentarios, dan mucha energia. Una muy buena captura esta foto en la cual se capta el vertigo de la altura, fascinanate esta composicion vertical con la impresionante caida de agua, bellos colores incluyendo el arco iris que se forma en la parte superior de la cascada.

Bonjour Neyvan,
trθs impressionnante cette chute d'eau et on le doit beaucoup ΰ ton POV qui aide l'oeil ΰ acccompagner l'eau dans sa chute. Dommage pour ces lumiθres qui sont un peu fortes dan les zones de soleil. En tous cas, on se fait une parfaite idιe de la verticalitι.

Hello Ney,

Magical photo, your position is very hard to beat! The misty falls are a sight that demands a photo to be taken, how could you not!? I bet the sound of this must have been very soothing. South America is a land of so much natural beauty and lush forest. The rainbow here is the highlight of the image, and draws the eye. Great natural saturation!
