High density
City: Sao Paulo – Quarter: Vale do Anhangabau - Location: Banespa building.
Sampa covers an area of 40x30 km and has 11 million inhabitants. Well travelled Paulistanos tend to be underwhelmed by the sky scraper density of other megalopoli. Standing on the observating deck on the 32nd floor of the 62 year old art deco Altino Arantes Building aka the Banespa tower, I understood why.
The image was shot towards the Paulista Avenue with its superimposed TV and radio broadcast towers. Sampa: fragmented view was captured in the tower. Information about it is : here. The Vale do Anhangabau is the old centre of the city - the spot where Sao Paulo was founded.
The reason for this return to my Sao Paulo portfolio is a festive one. From June-September three Rotterdam museums organize the Brazil Contemporary festival and one of them, the National Architecture Institute bought the right to use 22 of my Sampa pics. They will be used along with short urban films of students of the Sampa film academy in the “Retourtje Sao Paulo” program and will be projected on 4 x 5 meter screens. Of course the pics are mostly about architecture but there also some street pics too. I feel of course proud and am excited !
I dedicate this one to my dear friend Isabel, our guide and inspirer during our stay in Brazil.

The tech: PCS3&4 work flow: I altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, USM-ed, added a frame and resized and did a USM (0,3px, 64%) again.

Hallo Bert,
Je bent flink actief geweest de laatste tijd. Hey lijkt wel of we elkaar afwisselen.Ik hoop de komende tijd weer wat meer te doen, dus kun je het eventueel wat kalmer aan doen. Lekkere drukke foto. Hierbij vergeleken is de skyline van Rotterdam toch wat magertjes.

Wow, what a superb cityscape. It is a forest of sky scrapers! The it title is really appropriate. You could not deny that this is high a “dencity” Excellent high POV and perfect sharpness. TFS and have a fine weekend!

Hoi Bert,
Man wat verschrikkelijk, lijkt wel een jungle, daar wil je toch eigenlijk niet wonen he. Maar er schijnen toch meer als 20 miljoen van die gasten te zijn die deze stad tot hun woonoord hebben gekozen...verschrikkelijk ;-)
Maar je foto...die is toch prachtig met de juiste titel....tot in the oneindige gaat de bebouwing maar door....sterk en zeer goed standpunt..!!!

Is there any street, road or avenue in Sγo Paulo? I only been twice at the airport in transit and never had the desire of going downtown! Anyway, I like your superb view, which clearly shows a compact city under a nice sky. Well done.

A supremely crisp and "dense" photo indeed, Bert. A vast amount of details to fit into the 300 KB TE size limit, and you fared well with this challenge as well as with the overall composition and framing of this view - it really conveys the mega-city in a fine way. Good lighting and nice topping provided by the fluffy layer of clouds.

Gefeliciteerd met de aankoop van een aantal van je foto's door het NAI (gelijk de site even opgezocht en ik zag al een van je foto's erop staan :-))! Dit is een prachtig uitzicht op de drukke stad met alle hoogbouw en zendmasten op de achtergrond en dat alles in een prettig zonlicht en met een goede scherpte om alle details goed te kunnen zien!
