The Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Conceiηγo (also known as Igreja Matriz) is situated on Avenida Sete de Setembro that marks the edge of downtown district of Manaus. The cathedral itself is relatively plain building compared with most of other Manaus' older buildings. The cathedral as we see it today dates from the mid-nineteenth century (original eighteenth-century cathedral was destoyed by fire).

Around the cathedral is the Praηa da Matriz, a shady park popular with local courting couples, hustlers and sleeping drunks :)

This photo is just as it was shot - the only thing I did was to make it smaller. Now I think maybe it would have been good to take the photo from slightly lower angle. But also as it is I like the stairs leading to the temple.
