Photographer's Note
After leaving Franz Josef Glacier we headed further down the west coast to Fox township. Instead of visiting the glacier here, we turned right onto the Cook Flat Rd to take the turn off to Lake Matheson. Around this lake is a lovely walk through some fine Kiwi bush territory and at the far end of the lake are these unforgettable postcard views of one of the most famous panoramas in NZ.
The two mountains here are the two highest in Australasia. Mt. Tasman (3497m) on the left and Mt. Cook (3755m) on the right are known to the Maori as Rarakiora and Aoraki respectively.
With such fine weather on my visit, I decided to post my take on this popular view; cropped, sharpened and resized for the web. Enjoy.

Hi Steve, good shot. a little bit overexposed on the upper side on the sky, but with a wonderful reflection on the water and with good colours.

Bonjour Steve
Trθs belle composition avec de magnifiques reflets.
C'est un paysage trθs rafraichissant car en ce moment il fait trθs chaud, on pourrait mκme parler de canicule.
Merci pour le partage.

A simple yet effective composition showing this magnificent landscape at its best. I like how you've composed the shot to give equal emphasis to the mountains and their reflection. I would have liked it if the sky was the same deep blue colour as the sky reflected in the water, but thats a very minor criticism.
Good work.

Hello Steve,
Best regards.
Daniel.

A nice mirror-effect here, bright and clear all over, good shot ! For another view, just an idea, you could "break" the mirror, crop in the bottom by deleting the blue (try with your scrollbar) and you have another image:-))

Hi Steve,
what a splendid view, looks really like a wonderful landscape on a wonderful day ...the reflections are great. The only small problem is the slight overexpostion of the snow, but I know it's difficult to avoid.
Great shot, TFS.

What a classic view Steve. Awesome capture of one of the most well known views of NZ. The reflections are great, it was a pity there was a breeze on the waters closer to the reeds in the distance, otherwise you'd have had an even better water scene. Thank you for showing NZ off so well.

Wow, Steve, this is a lovely shot. I have a very similar one, taken from almost this vantage point, but unfortunately in February so there was much less snow on the hills.
Thanks for sharing this!

hi steve,
you have some fine landscape shots here. this is one that i like. i'd have to agree with the others about the slight overexposure, but that's really minor. the only thing i can think of is the branch/tree in the water. it breaks up the reflection, and personally, i would have cropped it out. but other wise.. beautiful.. well done

Hi Steve,
It is really a good shot.
The most important thing looking a photo is the memories.
I know it very well. Do you ?
