Photographer's Note
Blue hour at Auckland Harbour bridge with the CBD district in the distance to the left.
The Auckland Harbour Bridge is an eight-lane bridge over the Waitemata Harbour, joining St Marys Bay in Auckland with Northcote in North Shore City. It is the second-longest road bridge in New Zealand, and the longest in the North Island. The bridge took four years to build and was opened officially on 30 May 1959.
Exposure time was 10 seconds at F/16 (doesn't seem to come up in the EXIF data).

Hi Jim,
a superb blue hour shot. The star-effect on the lamplights is here, as well as the long-exposure silky effect on the water. I like it!

Hello Jim,
This one is superb and is a very original view of Auckland.
As I told Henk, I had to choose between a shooting session in Devonport and a nice diner on the harbor... and I chose the Chardonnet and mussels, knowing that you, local guys, will give me much better views than what I could have done ;-)
This long exposure blurring the water brings a magnificent mood.
Great work!
Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Christian

Good evening Jim ;-)
We crossed this bridge, i thought about it in shooting it, but under which angle....no idea. When not living there is almost impossible to find the right spots.
Of course you know where to stand, to make the bridge interesting in perspective and bring also the lights and city in front. F16 gives you nice stars, but even at 10 sec the water is not that smooth on the left as i would presume. But hey, you were telling me about rain in Auckland, what's this, it's clear (perfect) blue hour weather ;-)
Regards,
Henk

Hello Jim,
A fine view that stands out because of its well choosen composition and because of the wonderful colours of the sky and the water reflections.

Hi Jim,
You've selected an excellent POV for this shot. The bridge dominating the frame and at the same time splitting the sea and sky works very well. Interesting comment by PixelTerror with regard to the water, it does look like it is frozen over. Good composition too, nicely balanced frame, including the street lamp on the top left does it for me.
I didn't realise it was the aperture setting that gave the star effect on the lights, I'll put that one in the memory bank.
Great looking shot, a very good quality image, congratulations, a fine effort.
I'd be interested to know what lens you used for this.

another great shot, I particularly like the golden brown reflection of the lights in the water, looks like the Bay is filled with chocolate :) the string of starlights look like a dimond necklace, fragile and elegant. beautiful, what more can I say.

Hi Jim, this Blue Hour shot is exceptional. The effect on the water of the long 10 second exposure is just magnificent. I also admire the symmetry of the Bridge and how it draw your eye away off to the right. The star-points in the lights are great too. TFS, Lisa.

Hah, talking about a good gallery!
Yours is quite impressive, not many pictures yet, but all of them is of a really impressive quality.
I love these kinds of long exposure pictures where the water looks all milky and everything else is oin sharp.
Very professional work

Hi Jim,
Wonderful perspective of this iconic bridge, one I've been over several times mostly just to see the great view of Auckland from the other side. The golden lights well managed and reflect with great effect on the water. I can not think of another city which is surrounded by water on more sides then Auckland. It's a great city, with some similarities to Sydney I believe. I like the positioning of the city under the segment of the bridge and the line of lights leading away from the scene to the right. Great image.

Hello Jim,
The lower position makes the bridge extra
tougher, bigger and longer and that longer
creates an extra depth. Light management
and the composition are also great.
Friendly regards,
Robert
