Photographer's Note

First, I apologize for the corny title...lol (tho, I'm sure if you did bring your prom date here...) this is known as Wilsons Promontory (or The Prom to locals). (BTW, a promontory is a high point of land or rock projecting into the sea). What a beautiful part of Australia. Australia boasts some of the most gorgeous views of beaches up and down the east and west coasts. But this was one of my favourite places I visited in Australia.

It is about 200 km from Melbourne, and these are some of the nicest beaches found in Australia.

Wilsons Promontory is a national park that is at the southernmost tip of Australia's mainland. It was a trek up to this lookout but the view for miles was stunning. The water at that beach is beautifully clear (tho, a bit chilly being so south). There is a campground just inland from the beach where we camped in a tent for the weekend.

If you're ever in Australia, try not to give this a pass, you won't be disapppointed.

Note: My photo was taken only about a week before bushfires ravaged the area causing the park to be closed. You can see the difference in this photo (which I just found on this site).
