Photographer's Note

A southern humpbacked whale in Moreton Bay was repeatedly slapping its tail on the water to remove a build up of barnacles. It was some distance away so I've cropped heavily and enlarged. They also rub their bellies along the sand on the bottom of the ocean. The water here was not so deep. Just a few metres. I might load a workshop of another tail slap with greener, shallower water. Unfortunately I was not quick enough to catch any of the whales breaching and leaping almost right out of the water bar their tail flukes. I managed a few shots catching them 'waving'.
