After a recent short trip up the NSW north coast to visit friends I looked back at photos I've taken around the town of Forster a few years ago.
My friends live near the rocky beach in this photo but what really catches the eye are the patches of red lichen in the rocks. The bonus photo in the workshop is a close up of one of those red patches.

The entire coastline from Fraser Island to the Victorian border is studded with glorious beaches like this one. Best of all the water is not icy cold like it is in southern Victoria. The red lichens on the rocks contrast well with the blue sky and cyan tints of the water. Perfect sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
If this beach is as secluded as it seems, your friends could enjoy the pleasure of having it almost as their own. The rough rocks with the red streaks are quite spectacular. The close view in the WS is like a very interesting abstract painting.

Ian, that beach looks wild and untouched by humans. The lichens add red tints on the rocks. Pleasant nature photo. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

I know that I keep saying it but these photographs look quite amazing in the large format! The textural details are so crisp!
Your w/s is an example of what I believe is called an 'intimate landscape'. Someone pointed out the expression to me previously!!!

Hello Ian, two beautiful pictures, my kind of picture!
In the main post, in the large version, I can imagine myself on that beach, with the sea ebbing and flowing, and so clean. The textures and colours of the rocks is delightful.
In the w/s picture, the orange/yellow/brown reminds me of a metal intrusion, possibly iron? Whatever, it is beautiful, another of nature's abstracts.
Your friends are very lucky.

The distance between the beach and the horizon is creating depth. The point of view is showing details of the rocks and of the lichens. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

these rusty lichens remind me the ones I saw in the forts of Chuy in uruguay. here the orange touch created a special strip of color breaking the monotony of browns around. very beautiful image of nature.

I like very much the red color on the rocks indeed.
I remember posting a photo from Ireland which had some of similar colors on the rocks:

In spite of the cloudy weather here you have made the colors to stand out well from the rocks.
