Photographer's Note
Both photos are best opened in a new tab for better detail.
We stayed on Rose Isle station on the Darling River for a few days. It is one of the stations in the area that now run goats as well as sheep. As with any rural property some buildings eventually become redundant. That's the case with the old shed and sheep or more probably horse yards (because of the height of the fence) beyond the dead tree. There's a closer up photo of them in the workshop.
The land looks bare and that's because of several years of drought.

Hello Ian,
Both photos are well composed and have that strange beauty of some abandoned and dilapidated places. The dead tree is well placed and adorns the foreground the way a statue could have done.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,in fact the view is a bit sad, many years without abundant rain and so the ground is very dry,the tree is dead, the station is gone...a beautiful memory of recent past. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
I like photographs which feature items close in the f/g.
For me, this is a really good composition, the leaning tree strongly placed and suggesting that it may soon follow the lead of the one lying on the ground.
These f/g trees link well to the house and rickety fence, seen clearer in the w/s.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the Rose Isle station. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian
We can clearly see the saddening results of the drought. But the bareness resulted in quite an attractive photo. I like your composition with the dead tree and the house being good subjects to focus on.
I visited NSW almost exactly 4 years before this photo was taken (around 20 July) and it stayed in my memory as green and wet. I looked at the map to check where your photo was taken and it is indeed much more inland than where we travelled (Sydney-Yass-Wagga Wagga-Katoomba-Sydney).
Best wishes and thanks for sharing.

Hi Ian,
Dry tree and another one lying on the ground make a great composition. Abandoned shed is quite photogenic although it shows hopelessness of this place. It is not likely that situation there gets any better.

Hello Ian,
Excellent composition. I think this would have worked well in BW too! I took the liberty to make an experiment. Please check WS!

Hello Ian.
A magnificent photo that makes me sick, seeing the dead tree in the foreground and what was once a sheep pen and the shepherd's house all in ruins, I understand that life in this plain without rain or pasture makes the impossible life, the photos of the WS confirm all this.
A great photo, very good lighting and sharpness.
Well done.
Have a good week.
Very best regards.
Luis.
