We stayed on a sheep/goat station on the Darling river at Gunderbooka. The river wasn't very deep but that didn't stop some travellers trying (very unsuccessfully) to catch fish. The banks were very steep so they'd stuck their rods in the back and retreated to the top to sit on chairs and enjoy a beer.
Goats are being increasingly farmed on outback sheep stations. They are very hardy and unlike sheep don't eat grass to the roots. The herds have been developed from wild feral goats with the addition of good quality males to lift the herd quality. Most of the goat meat is exported to the USA and the Middle East.

Hi Ian, two very different river scenes for us today! I like the composition of yours, with the tress opposite and river banks converging. Cheers, Steve

Bonjour, cher Ian,
Donc pas question d'aller ΰ la pκche, les poissons sont absents !
L'ιlevage y est en revanche prospθre ΰ travers les moutons et les chθvres.
La note est informative et ιdifiante !

Hello Ian,
A simple but pleasant view of the river between the steep banks. I hope the amateur fishermen remembered to collect their rods after a few beers.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The length of the river is giving depth and perswpective to the composition. The point of view is showing the ripples on the water and the details of the trees. The light is giving good colours rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
Goat's cheese good, too, and supposedly easier to digest.
A fine composition, with the converging banks guiding inwards and forming a fine linear perspective.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian, the fishing rods minus their owners provides a short story to this scene. The anglers are out of shot ,they will have to be quick if fish bites!
Very good composition, and sharp focusing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian,
A fine sunlight and pleasant, natural colours. I like the composition and the diagonal created by the calm river. It is nicely framed by the trees on both sides.

Hi Ian,
I always thought fishing is quite a boring pastime but I suppose some people think the same about photography...
In a place like this I think I would even enjoy fishing.
Beautiful natural setting.
Amazing unspoiled nature. And this year without any tourists from outside:)
Great reportage,
M
