Photographer's Note

Moomba is an annual festival held over the Labor Day long weekend on the banks of the Yarra river in Melbourne. It is a bit of a daggy event which isn't taken too seriously, with a street parade, rides and a water-skiing competition. This year the weather was pleasant.

The meaning of the word Moomba is disputed. It is an Aboriginal word and there is a suggestion that the person who suggested it said it meant lets get together and have fun, whereas others say it actually means something like "up your bum".

Taken in the company of Andrew (Macondo) and Santo (Skippy007).
