Photographer's Note
A view down Wharf Street from the corner with Ann St in the central business district of Brisbane City. This quirky statue wasn't here when I left Australia in 2006. It wasn't possible to get the entire sculpture in frame without cutting off the top of the skyscraper so I might load a workshop showing a full view. At first I thought it was a kangaroo, but its actually a dog or wolf. Polish artist Cezary Stulgis created it and he now lives nearby on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. He studied at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Poland (Krakσw). More info here:

The Aurora Tower at left has 69 levels and is 207 metres tall. It was the tallest building in Brisbane until 2011.

That's a nice Kangaroo statue mounted, and where if not in Australia? it has a wonderful shine, and the whole surrounding look as a modern downtown megapolis.

Great photo of this Brisbane street, I really like the composition with this standing dog statue in the right hand foreground and the skyscraper fully visible in the left hand side background. The colours are bright and appealing on this sunny day.

It's an original statue. I wonder what it's doing there. Any reference to a book or some local tradition, or just the artist's whim? Whatever its explanation it fills the foreground well, just as the high-rise building serves a place further back.

what the heck is this???
first of all, its great to see inner city street shots from Australia, for some reason we don't see many - and I still don't understand why.
I've always thought of this city being very similar to Vancouver, but i'm not sure.
I like this compo, its as if the wolf is waiting to get picked up by a friend or something, stand there all casual.
quirky and weird city shot, but thats what makes it good.

curious this anthropomorphic sculpture with a touch of modernity. I liked the view of the street and the skyscrapers, in some aspects it looks like a big brazilian town.
