Photographer's Note

This is a re-posting of my first photo on TE. It has been re-sized to full size (the original when posted was too small). I've also cropped it a little to remove excess sky and water and tweeked the contrast.
Kingston was built by convicts in the period 1825-1855 and was the original settlement on Norfolk Island which has unique semi-independent relationship with Australia (Australians need a passport to visit.) Conditions were harsh and inhumane. The ruins are now quite picturesque with some buildings having been restored as museums. The long walls are old prison walls.
The trees that are visible on the sky line are the local Norfolk Island Pine.
