Photographer's Note
Going to Australia I knew that I was gonna take lots of pictures with its most famous building. Of course I was right and now I can fill one photo-alboom only with Opera shots.
The one I am presenting here is probably the most interesting - a very close view during the sunset.
Here are some facts and numbers about the Opera I've found in the internet:
- designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon,
- opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 October 1973,
- cost $AU 102,000,000 to build,
- conducts 3000 events each year,
- provides guided tours to 200,000 people each year,
- has an annual audience of 2 million for its performances,
- includes 1000 rooms,
- is 185 metres long and 120 metres wide,
- has 2194 pre-cast concrete sections as its roof,
- has roof sections weighing up to 15 tons,
- has roof sections held together by 350 kms of tensioned steel cable,
- has over 1 million tiles on the roof,
- uses 6225 square metres of glass and 645 kilometres of electric cable.

Hi welcome here. Hope you have fun. It is an amazing building. Did you go inside for an opera? Beautiflu colours in the sky. Good choice to do it at sunset.

The colours are good, but also the composition is interesting & gives us a differnet view of this very familiar location.

Excelent shot there ,Henryk! I like the skys colours and how they are mixed with the setting sun. I also enjoyed the triangular from which the sun in "looking at us".
There is a bit of noise in the sky so I would suggest to use neat image to remove that!!!

Ce monument fait le sujet de beaucoup de clichιs mais celui-ci est particuliθrement rιussi ΰ cause de la lumiθre du couchant. Les personnages donnent l'ιchelle de ces grands coquillages.

Hello Henryk, this is a wonderful evening shot of the Opera House. I love the glow of the sun peeking between the buildings and the pink clouds in the sky.
