The Custom House Tower in Boston, Ma.
***********************
The Custom House Tower is a skyscraper in McKinley
Square, in the Financial District neighborhood of
Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States.
The Construction lasted from 1837-47 by the architect
Ammi Burnham Young; the tower was added from 1913-15 by
Peabody and Stearns.
By 1905, increased shipping required the building's
expansion. In 1913–1915, the architecture firm Peabody
and Stearns added the tower to the base. Although
Boston at that time had a 38 m height restriction, the
Custom House was federally owned and exempt from it.
The new tower's 151 m made it the city's tallest.
When custom officials moved to the Thomas P. O'Neill
building in 1986, the Custom House was declared
"surplus property". On April 16, 1987, the city of
Boston purchased the building from the General Services
Administration. The building remained unoccupied and
inaccessible for 14 years.
After that it was converted into an 80-room Marriott
Hotel.

Thor, you have done a fine job of isolating this building from those surrounding it. Color and detail are superb and the sky you got that day works wonderfully. Great capture.

Hallo Thorsten!

Hi Thorsten!
I really like this picture!
The vertical format was an excellent choice in here! Sharpness is excellent, exposure is perfect, colors are natural and beautiful, the pov was well chosen and the composition is simple but pretty effective!
The architecture of those two buildings is very very attractive! I think those kind of skyscrapers are larger versions of those other wonderful ones found all over Europe! NY, Chicago and other american cities have plenty of them and I do love them!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,
Neyvan
