Delicate Arch - Arches National Park
A really really often photographed image, but if you go there, you know why it΄s so popular! Although I had already been there last year, I went there again, this time especially to see the sunset and the sunrise.
Although the 2.4 kilometres long trail to the arch is quite heavy (especially when it is hot!), it is worth all the effort. Apart from the spectacular arch, you also have a wonderful view over the park. At sunset it was really crowded up there, the whole place was full of tourists, but it was nice anyway, and luckily the sun made its way through the clouds some minutes before it set. And that was, when I took this picture. The sunrise was also a wonderful experience, there was only one person up there when we arrived at about half past six, but unfortunatly the arch was΄t illuminated by the sun (wrong direction). Anyway, it was more than worth going up there both times and it is something I΄d recomment to everyone visiting the area around Moab.

I΄m glad for any advice, hint or proposition, that could help me to improve my photography.

ich war auch da...aber um Mittag!
tja..ich muss wirklich sagen....ich bin fast am Boden gepatzt...aber es hat sich dafuer gelohnt!
was von deinem Bild mir bestens gefaellt, ist das Licht!
Der Felsbogen scheint dadurch waermer und fast lebendig!

Yes, this does make a spectacular shot!
The colours are so rich and the shapes are an amazing testimony to Nature's creativity.

Hello Jonas,
Good choice of time for photographing. The shade part of the background makes the arch stand out further. Balance of light between the arch and the sky is also excellent.

Very nice Jonas
The lighting brings out the true oranges of Arches NP. Arches was my favourite Utah place and had a wonderful trekking around this place. The capture is clean and crisp looking, nothing wrong with this shot whatsoever.

So sunset is the better way to make picture, i'll remember when i'll go there on my next trip.
I'm happy you got sun through clouds to make it, sunset light make it more orange than it is. Technically, framing is the most seen....... but i know it's the only one who can be made. When i'll go there i'll try to make a very long nighshot with stars making circle in a similar framing.

ja also ich muss sagen ich kenn ja dein altes Delicate Arch, was ich schon super fand, aber da hattest du natόrlich nicht so tolles Licht, hier aber, Respekt, tolles warmes Licht! Super Handling der Belichtung, klasse Schδrfe bei f/14 und gute Qualitδt was die D300 so ausspuckt, super Bild.

Hallo Jonas! Oh ja, wenn die Sonne runterbrennt, dann ist es eine Qual da raufzusteigen, daher habe ich es sein gelassen. Dafuer geniesse ich Deine exquisite Version im allerbesten Licht. Es stimmt schon, Arches ist ziemlich ueberlaufen, allerdings liegen auch viele noch im Bett und wenn man frueh los geht, kann es sehr gut sein, dass man nicht alleine ist, aber dennoch mit Leuten zusammentrifft, die sich wirklich fuer die Natur, aber auch fuers Fotografieren interessieren, und das macht die Sache um einiges ertraeglicher. Ich auf jeden Fall gehe sicher frueher oder spaeter hierhin zurueck, ich fand es grandios. Vielleicht im Winter, wer weiss, das waere doch eine neue Dimension ... Tolle Fotoarbeit, die kleinen dunklen Wolken finde ich besonders attraktiv. Gruesse ... Barbara.

Aw, my favorite place and favorite time, the sunset really illuminated the arch so delicately. You choose very similar POV as my, and off course you again have a few cloud in your sky, the shadow of the mountain really contrast the yellow and red very well. Another stunning image in your gallery. Thanks Jonas. I so wanted to come back here again soon.

The particular colours of this special landscape is well recorded, and stand out nicely on the fine blue sky!
Interesting rock formation, created by wind and rain through many many years is impressive...
A fine composition, and you use the present light to your advantage!

What to say here......
A classic one, but being in Moab and not having this picture you surly missed something. The walk up for me was heavy with all the gear, but the reward was great, just as great as your result is. Looks bright, red, contrast, sauration, but most of all timing in choosing the right moment to present it like this.
A classic shot, but a great one...

Olα Jonas, I imagining that this arch is like the Eiffel Tower in Paris :)) It's a classical picture but you produced an image of impressive quality. It's beautiful to see all the layers with diferent light and colors until we reach the mountain silhouette in the background. And I like the touch of humor that the clouds above the arch give me - it seems like smoke coming out of the chimney arch ;-) Those clouds on the corner are actually a good detail in the composition. Very good work.
