Photographer's Note

The first rays of sunlight creep over the horizon to start a new day. The mists still roll over the fields, and the birds have awakened. The fireflies' lights are now gone and stars no longer twinkle. Watching in silent witness, a tree stands guard at the entrance to Brazos Bend State park.
---
Brazos Bend State Park is one of many in Texas. Over 270 different species of birds have been seen in the park, as well as alligators (obviously, no swimming at this park). Snakes, armadillos, and other assorted wildlife can be found in the park as well. Fishing, picnic areas, and miles of hiking/biking trails meander through the park.

Not shown, the most notable feature of the park is the presence of the George Observatory in the park. Saturday nights it is open to the public and you can look through large telescope as well as many smaller ones set up by local astronomers.
