Photographer's Note
Delicate Arch - Arches National Park. Utah, USA.
We hiked up to the arch on the 9th - a 1.5 mile trail (one way) with an altitude gain of about 500 feet. It was a beautiful hike... but the sky didn't cooperate. So we did it again the next day. We weren't expecting a sky like this - there were a few puffy clouds floating around. But as the sun set, this magnificent storm moved in - colored bright orange by the setting sun, with deep blue and purples hues behind. The rainbow made a fantastic secondary arch.
We hiked back in the dark. By then the clouds had cleared and the stars were at their best. The milky way was clearly visible. :) The sky never ceases to amaze me.
People are asking if my colors are real, here. When processing landscape images, my goal is to produce a final image that matches reality as closely as possible. The colors here are true.

Hi Varina, wonderful composition and great notes. My only worry would be the colours - they look a little un-natural and oversaturated.

What an awesome capture. I love the cloudy sky and the rainbow.
Great lighting. The deep reds and the dark blue of the sky are really beautiful.

Hi Varina,
Wow, what a stunning capture of the Delicate Arch. We visited there in May so your shot brings back vivid memories. Your capture is striking because you not only got a perfect view of the arch, but present the added bonus of the wild looking sky with a rainbow in the distance. Dear Varina,
Though I have seen many similar shot of this famous arch, this one in particular stands out completely. All the elements seems to be present to make this a splendid shot...almost surreal though. Absolutely love it.
