Photographer's Note
Up the Valley
Fern Lake Trail, Rocky Mountain National Park.
I have posted a number of images of this trail ... I will put them together in a theme here in moment (see themes to the left) .. it is one of Andrew's favorite trails .. it rambles down a road through a thick aspen grove ... then along a path that gently ascends high up into the mountains .. following the Big Thompson River to the left and these steep cliffs to the right ..
I am celebrating the fourteenth anniversary of my twenty-fifth birthday today .. so be gentle .. no just kidding .. be as thoughtful and helpful as you always are .. somehow this image seemed to draw me to it this morning .. I don't want to think too much about why ; )

Hello John,
Interesting viewpoint for this mountain landscape. I like the contrast between the snow covered rocks in the foreground and the background peaks. The diagonals formed by the different elements also make for an interesting composition. Good colours and definition.
Happy Birthday!

Hello John -
What I really like about this image is the contrast between the white snow and the red rock of the canyon wall. This is a well crafted image both in composition and technique. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello John,
Best regards from Belgium, have a great week-end.

Hello John,
I love the shadows coming down on the snow covered rocks. Interesting POV that seems to have the bottom crisscrossing the rugged cliffs.
Happy anniversary,
Tom

Hi John,
beautiful upgoing view with the snowy stones followed by the trees. I like those light and shadow on snow very much.
Also late but best wishes to your birthday! Impressing how young you kept since a long time ;-)

Hi John,
Fine photo. I like the foreground details you've captured here, stones/rocks covered with snow, some shadows ehre and there, really nice. The slightly polarized sky and pinetrees make up for a total nice photo, good composition, all elements take in about equal portions in the photo, which I like.
Hope you had a better weekend than mine, but's that's not hard..

Hello John,
Looks like a pretty rough landscape!
I like the strong diagonal composition, and the snow in October adds a nice touch...
Good side light gives fine details and attractive colours!
Greetings,

Hi John:
What a nice perspective and what gorgeous lighting! I love the half-snow-covered rocks and the fact that the slope parallels the top of the ridge. Beautiful shot all around.

Hi John, this shot puzzles me, or shall I say your text. I'm not a mathematician so I got confused with your riddle. Does it mean that your age is 14x25 years?
THe shot itself gives us hope that the sun is coming back at some point. Not only to fill our pictures in the upper part with light but soon also coming lower into the valley to get rid of all the snow and back with all the nice flower that are gone for the moment.
TFS, Peter
