Photographer's Note

A lot of the glorious architecture of Manhattan, and on Fifth Avenue in paricular, is easy to miss if you forget to look up. This row of bare-breasted caryatids appears on an otherwise undistinguished (for the location!) building, way up around the eighth floor (I didn't count).

Taking a page from the ancient greeks with a nod to the renaissance, it's a visual reminder of the days when great commercial concerns were busy beautifying their cities....
